Adewale Yusuf steps down as CEO of AltSchool Africa after four years of building tech education programs for young Africans.
Nigerian technology entrepreneur and startup founder Adewale Yusuf has officially stepped down from his position as Chief Executive Officer of AltSchool Africa.
The major leadership transition update was publicly announced on October 21, 2026, marking the end of a successful 4 year chapter for the digital learning platform.
Under this leadership change, the co-founder is handing over day-to-day management duties to new leadership while keeping a close advisory role as the company prepares for its next phase of growth.
Adewale Yusuf launched the online learning platform in 2022 alongside his business partner to help young Africans learn valuable computer coding, product design, data analysis, and digital marketing skills without needing expensive university degrees.
Over the past four years, the platform grew rapidly, training thousands of students across multiple African countries and helping young people secure remote jobs with global companies.
The executive founder stated that stepping down is part of a planned growth strategy to bring in fresh energy and new ideas that will take the online school to greater heights.
While the company searches for a permanent new chief executive, senior operational managers will keep running student classes and training programs without any interruption.
Training young people in practical computer skills and helping them find good jobs is very important for everyday families, ambitious youths, and local communities across Africa.
In many developing countries, thousands of university graduates struggle to find jobs because traditional school programs do not teach the practical computer skills that modern companies need.
When affordable digital training platforms provide online classes and teach young people how to write software or design mobile apps, ordinary youths from modest backgrounds can learn valuable skills right from their homes and earn good incomes.
Supporting founders who build and grow local educational tech companies ensures that the next generation of African youth can succeed in the global digital economy.
Explaining why stepping down at the right time is healthy for a growing business, the outgoing founder shared a heartfelt message with students, teachers, investors, and supporters across the continent.
Reflecting on the wonderful journey of building the tech school from scratch and watching thousands of students transform their lives, Adewale Yusuf stated that “building AltSchool Africa has been one of the most fulfilling journeys of my life, but it is time to pass the baton to new leadership to guide the next phase of growth”.
Reassuring the public that his passion for empowering African talent remains unchanged and that he will continue supporting the tech ecosystem, the founder added further encouraging words.
Looking ahead to the future of African digital education, Adewale Yusuf added that “I am incredibly proud of what our team has achieved, and I remain deeply committed to the mission of transforming education and career opportunities for young Africans”.
AltSchool Africa continues to enroll new students for its upcoming academic semesters. As the online school prepares for its next chapter of leadership, young tech learners across Africa continue to build successful digital careers through the platform.
