Terra Industries Wins $2 Million Contract to Protect Nigerian Lithium Mines

Nigerian tech firm Terra Industries gets two million dollars to guard lithium mines using flying drones and smart towers.

Terra Industries has signed a big deal worth $2 million to guard lithium mining sites in the country. The official news about this major business win was announced on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

This huge security contract comes just one week after the technology firm created its new commercial division to protect essential business assets and natural resources across Africa.

The security equipment will be deployed across several lithium mining locations in Nigeria where private companies dig out valuable minerals from the ground.

The company will install 20 smart surveillance towers and deploy four flying machines, known as Iroko drones, across the mining grounds.

These machines will work continuously to watch the land, spot bad actors trying to cause trouble, and alert site managers immediately if any danger appears near the mining equipment.

The main reason why the mining companies paid for these advanced security tools is that many mineral sites, power plants, and oil fields across African countries are located in far away places where regular police or guards are very few.

In these quiet and remote areas, dangerous criminals, thieves, and vandals often try to steal valuable equipment or disrupt mining work.

By using flying drones and high surveillance towers powered by smart computer software called ArtemisOS, the mining firms can protect their workers and property without depending only on human guards who cannot see everywhere at night.

The technology company was started in the city of Abuja by 2 young Nigerian engineers, Nathan Nwachuku and Maxwell Maduka, who built a large factory to produce drones locally.

Instead of buying expensive security machines from foreign nations, the company designs and builds its own flying equipment right inside Nigeria.

The smart computer system inside the towers and drones can automatically spot moving people or strange vehicles from miles away, making it easy for site owners to stop crime before it happens.

Speaking on why remote infrastructure operators need these advanced tools, the company explained in an official statement that “mining, oil and power operators across Africa run critical assets in places where security coverage is thin and response times are long.”

Highlighting how their technology offers a lasting fix for these security gaps, the firm added that “Terra’s commercial division builds surveillance and deterrence systems for those sites using the same autonomous stack the company supplies to defense customers.”

This new multi million dollar contract marks a big win for locally made African technology and mining safety. As these smart drones and surveillance towers begin guarding lithium sites across Nigeria, local mining companies can extract valuable energy minerals safely, creating more jobs for citizens while showing that homegrown African technology can solve complex security problems across the continent.
