NEC Africa has secured a $75,000 contract with telecommunications operator Savannah Uganda to expand 4G LTE network coverage across rural and underserved regions in Uganda.
Technology infrastructure provider NEC Africa has secured a $75,000 contract with Savannah Uganda, an emerging internet service provider to support the deployment and expansion of high-speed 4G mobile and broadband connectivity across Kampala and surrounding regional districts.
The agreement marks a significant operational milestone for NEC Africa as it accelerates its market footprint in East Africa. Under the terms of the engagement, NEC Africa will supply telecommunications hardware, network equipment and specialized technical support to help Savannah Uganda upgrade its existing transmission towers, improve network capacity and deliver reliable wireless coverage to local residential and business subscribers.
The network expansion targets urban and semi-urban communities around Kampala, where consumer demand for high-speed mobile data and enterprise internet services continues to grow rapidly.
By integrating NEC Africa’s network technology, Savannah Uganda aims to strengthen its signal stability, reduce network congestion and extend coverage beyond the capital city’s core business districts into underserved peri-urban areas. The physical rollout aligns directly with broader national digital development goals overseen by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) which prioritize expanding affordable broadband access, improving service delivery and fostering economic inclusion through digital connectivity.
