SiGMA Group has officially opened applications for its 2027 Africa Startup Pitch, inviting early-stage tech innovators and founders from across the continent to compete during the annual SiGMA Africa summit. 

Global event and networking giant SiGMA has officially opened applications for its 2027 Africa Startup Pitch Competition. The international initiative offers emerging tech founders across the continent a direct platform to connect with over 30 global venture capitalists, investors, mentors, and industry decision-makers.

The live pitch event will take place as a flagship feature of the SiGMA Africa Summit, scheduled for February 15 to 17, 2027 at the GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World in Cape Town, South Africa.

Comprehensive Prize Support
More than 100 promising startups will be selected to display their solutions in the dedicated SiGMA Startup Village.

Participating founders gain one Premium event pass alongside four Standard passes, dedicated workspaces in the executive Startup Lounge, and public relations coverage across SiGMA’s global media channels, newsletters, and magazine interviews.

From the larger cohort, an expert judging panel will select six top finalists to compete on stage during the live pitch on February 17. Finalists will receive three minutes to present their company vision, followed by a five-minute question-and-answer session with the judges.

The winning startup will receive a combined support package valued at over €400,000. Headline benefits include up to €400,000 in software tool credits from major tech partners like Nvidia, Notion and DigitalOcean, €20,000 in AWS Activate cloud infrastructure credits, a €21,300 marketing and branded booth package, and exclusive C-level executive networking access through the Ikigai Retreat. Additional perks cover €5,000 in specialized industry education and tailored talent acquisition HR services.

The competition focuses on early-stage African companies operating within high-growth technology sectors. Eligible fields include fintech, artificial intelligence, blockchain, iGaming, sports betting, esports, affiliate marketing and prediction trading platforms. To qualify applicants must be at the Seed to Series A funding stage and have raised no more than €3 million in total capital.

Applications remain completely free for all eligible startups, with no equity or entry fees required. Interested founders must submit their applications by January 6, 2027 and are encouraged to include an optional three-minute video introduction to boost their chances of selection. Following evaluation based on innovation, market potential and scalability, the official shortlist will be announced on January 22, with finalists submitting their pitch decks by February 3 ahead of the Cape Town event.
