Airtel Zambia through its corporate social responsibility and digital empowerment initiatives has launched a comprehensive scholarship scheme targeted at Zambian youths pursuing technology and digital skills training.
Telecommunications giant Airtel Zambia, operating through its corporate social responsibility arm Airtel Africa Foundation, has announced a major initiative providing full-ride tertiary education scholarships for high-achieving local students.
The programme aims to train 100 Zambian youths in key technology, engineering, and digital disciplines, expanding higher education access and bridging the technical skills gap across the country’s expanding digital economy.
The scholarship initiative covers 100% of tuition and mandatory academic fees for the entire duration of undergraduate study programs. Beneficiaries will also receive dedicated funding for essential study materials, personal laptops, living stipends and housing support.
To deliver the coursework, Airtel partnered with top higher education institutions in Zambia, including the University of Zambia (UNZA) the Copperbelt University (CBU) and the Mulungushi University. Eligible fields of study encompass software development, cybersecurity, network engineering, data science, artificial intelligence and civil engineering.

Selection for the award remains strictly merit-based, targeting top-performing secondary school graduates who demonstrate exceptional academic performance in STEM subjects alongside leadership potential and financial need. Female students and candidates from underserved rural areas are strongly encouraged to apply to promote inclusion within the technology sector.
Airtel Zambia leadership noted that investing directly in youth education forms a core component of its commitment to national socio-economic growth. By equipping young people with advanced technical skills, the initiative aims to boost youth employability, foster local tech innovation and build a competitive workforce capable of driving Africa’s digital transformation.
