MultiChoice rearranges DStv and GOtv channels, replacing four old movie stations with three simpler ones in Nigeria.
Popular pay television company MultiChoice Nigeria has rearranged its movie channels on DStv and GOtv to make watching films easier for millions of households across Nigeria.
The major TV station update took effect on Thursday, September 17, 2026, nationwide. Under the new arrangement, the company closed four old movie stations and replaced them with three new stations, while also adding new channels for sports and international news.
The changes affect all television viewers across Nigeria who pay for monthly DStv and GOtv decoders in their houses, shops, and viewing centers.
People watching television in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, and other communities can now find new movie names on their screen guide.
The company replaced the old movie stations with three simplified channels named M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars, and M-Net Legends. DStv has also added SuperSport Kick-Off for football lovers and France 24 for world news.
The main reason why MultiChoice changed the channel arrangement is that many customers complained that old movies were repeating too many times every day.
Television viewers asked for fresh films and simple channel names so they would not waste time looking for good shows.
By reducing the movie channels from four to three distinct stations, the television provider wants to show brand new local and foreign movies faster, helping customers on lower payment plans watch big cinema films much earlier.
This channel shuffle helps everyday families get better value for the money they spend on monthly television decoder bills.
Instead of searching through many confusing channels that show the same old films, subscribers can now easily pick action movies, classic old films, or family cinema based on their mood.

Moving to simpler channel arrangements helps busy people relax quickly without stressing over missing good shows.
Explaining why the company decided to change how movies are shown to Nigerian television subscribers, MultiChoice representatives stated, “We’ve listened to what movie lovers want most: fewer repeats, more fresh titles, and a clearer viewing experience. That’s why we’ve consolidated the previous four movie channels into three stronger, more differentiated destinations.”
Highlighting how the decision makes finding good films easier for households, company officials added that “this exciting evolution of the M-Net Movies offering has been designed to make it easier than ever to discover and enjoy the movies you’ll love.”
Pointing out that this channel swap is just the first step in a bigger plan for subscribers, company leaders noted that “the revamped packages will feature changes across both DStv and GOtv, with products and channels structured around different viewing preferences.”
This big channel update marks a welcome change for home entertainment across Nigeria and Africa as cable television companies work to serve customers better.
As decoders update automatically with the new stations, family members across the country can enjoy clearer film choices, live football matches, and daily news without stress.
