The formal agreement aims to integrate digital connectivity directly into residential housing developments. By embedding fibre infrastructure into housing estates managed by SIC, the state-owned telecommunications operator seeks to expand digital inclusion and ensure that modern broadband internet is accessible to residential communities throughout Cameroon.
The framework agreement establishes a coordinated approach to installing telecommunications infrastructure across existing and future SIC housing developments.
Rather than retrofitting internet cabling after construction is complete, the collaboration enables CAMTEL to build fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connections directly into residential planning. This approach lowers installation costs, reduces physical disruption to neighborhood infrastructure, and ensures that residents receive reliable, high-speed internet access from the moment they move in.

The partnership forms part of CAMTEL’s broader strategy to enhance national fixed-line infrastructure and support Cameroon’s digital economy goals.

Representatives from both organizations highlighted that equipping residential housing estates with modern fibre connections bridges the digital divide for families, modernizes public housing standards and creates scalable digital hubs in urban and suburban communities across Cameroon.
