INEC quietly moves 2023 election results to new online servers, but links for Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo still point to an old address.

Nigeria’s official election body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has quietly moved hundreds of thousands of voting result documents from the 2023 general elections to new online servers.

The quiet web migration came to light on September 28, 2026, after data analysts noticed that presidential and governorship result sheets on the official election portal were loading from a completely new web address.

The online move happened after independent data tracking group Mundx Analytics raised alarm on social media that the original website address used by the election body to store over four hundred and 70,000 polling unit results had expired.

Following checks on the official result viewing portal, tech investigators discovered that while main presidential result files and governorship records for 28 states now load successfully from a new server address, result links for Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states are still stuck on the old, failing system.

Moving public election records safely matters greatly to every Nigerian citizen because transparent voting results build trust in democracy.

Under the country’s national electoral rules, election organizers must keep a permanent, clean, and easily accessible digital record of all voting results so that voters, political parties, court judges, and researchers can verify numbers at any time.

When election records are moved secretly or split across broken website links, citizens worry that important public documents could be lost or altered.

Alerting citizens and election officials about the risks of losing public voting records, Mundx Analytics revealed the huge scale of files affected on social media.

Analysts from the group stated that they “found at least 470,619 result records pointing to the expired domain, more than half of the records expected from the 2023 general election.”

Explaining how voters now experience broken links when trying to check official voting documents online, tech researchers monitoring the website updates noted that citizens are being redirected across different online addresses.

Investigators explained that “a citizen using IReV now touches at least three hosts, and the 2023 records for three states are on the one that still fails.“

The new server address hosting the moved election files includes a label pointing to a cloud storage center located in London.

As election observers and citizens continue to check the updated result portal, public commentators urge the electoral commission to fix the broken links for Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states and publicly explain how these new foreign servers protect the safety of Nigeria’s official voting history.
