Gabon has initiated a 10-day stakeholder validation process in Nkok to review and consolidate draft legal texts aimed at establishing a modernized digital transformation legal framework.
Gabon has officially commenced the national review and validation process for its updated digital transformation legal framework marking a critical step toward modernizing state institutions, regulating online activities and securing its expanding digital economy.
Organized by the Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation, the validation sessions bring together government officials, legal experts, telecommunications regulators and private-sector leaders. The multi-stakeholder gathering aims to evaluate, refine and finalize a series of legislative bills and regulatory decrees before they are submitted to parliament for formal adoption into law.
The updated legal framework establishes clear operational guidelines across several strategic areas including electronic administration, data protection, cybersecurity and digital transactions.
By establishing unified legal definitions and regulatory mechanisms, the government aims to accelerate the dematerialization of public services, allowing citizens and businesses to access administrative procedures online securely. The framework also introduces stricter rules on personal data protection and cybercrime prevention, ensuring that public databases and commercial digital transactions operate under robust privacy and security controls.
