PiggyVest confirms customer transaction delays are caused by temporary network downtime at the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System.

Popular Nigerian savings and financial technology platform PiggyVest has explained that recent delays experienced by customers trying to send, deposit, or withdraw money are caused by temporary network downtime at the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System.

The official explanation was shared on October 2, 2026, following growing complaints from users whose money transfers remained pending or stuck between bank accounts.

The central inter-bank settlement system acts as the main national bridge that connects all commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and digital money applications across Nigeria.

Whenever an everyday smartphone user transfers money from an app like PiggyVest to a traditional bank, or moves money between different bank accounts, the transaction passes through this central government-regulated network.

When the central network suffers a technical break or server slowdown, money transfers get suspended in the air until the connection starts working again.

Experiencing delays when sending or withdrawing money causes serious worry for everyday citizens who rely on digital wallets to pay for food, transport, medical bills, and daily business stock.

Because many families and small shop owners use PiggyVest to hold their emergency savings, seeing a withdrawal status show pending or failing creates fear that their hard-earned money might be lost.

Explaining how the central payment network operates reassures users that their funds remain completely safe in the system.

Addressing customer concerns over delayed payouts and pending transfers across social media channels, official customer support representatives from PiggyVest assured users that all affected funds will drop into destination accounts as soon as network stability returns.

The fintech team advised affected users to stay calm and wait for normal operations to resume, reassuring customers that “funds are secure, and there’s no cause for alarm.”

Reassuring users that engineering teams are actively monitoring the central network to resolve all pending payouts quickly, company support statements noted that technical teams are working around the clock with payment partners.

PiggyVest explained that “although the NIBSS downtime is something beyond our control, we are working tirelessly with our payment providers to ensure all pending payouts are sorted,” while thanking customers for their patience.

The network downtime happened shortly after PiggyVest launched a major app update introducing new Kids, Joint, and Business accounts.

While some users wondered if the new app update caused the glitch, PiggyVest confirmed that central inter-bank network downtime remains the main reason for money delays.

As normal central banking connections recover, pending withdrawals and deposits are expected to credit customer accounts automatically.
