Kuunda completes a $5 million secondary share sale to let early investors cash out profit as the company expands across Africa.
Pan-African digital lending technology provider Kuunda has officially completed a $5 million secondary share sale across its African operations.
The private share transaction was publicly announced on October 13, 2026, allowing early financial supporters to cash out their initial investments while bringing in larger long term shareholders.
Under this secondary share arrangement, existing early backers sold $5 million worth of their private company shares to larger investment funds.
Unlike a primary fundraising round where new investment cash goes straight into the company bank account to hire workers or build new software, a secondary share sale pays money directly to early investors who risked their capital when the business was just starting.
African venture firm E4E Africa led the purchase to increase its ownership stake in Kuunda, while existing institutional investors including Accion Ventures, Portugal Gateway Fund, and Seedstars Africa Ventures also bought extra shares to strengthen their long term position in the business.
Allowing early investors to cash out profits is very important for small business owners, young tech creators, and local money markets across Africa.
In past years, people who put their hard earned money into new tech companies had to wait 10 or 15 years until a big international company bought the business or listed it on a stock exchange before getting their cash back.
When a growing African tech business allows early backers to sell their shares smoothly, it proves that investing in local technology works, encouraging more wealthy individuals and investment groups to put money into young African startups.
Explaining why completing this share sale marks a major milestone for company growth and shows deep trust from global financial partners, executive leadership at Kuunda celebrated the transaction.

Celebrating the successful share transfer, Andrew Milne, Chief Executive Officer of Kuunda, stated that “this is an important milestone for Kuunda and our investors”.
He added that completing the sale reflects the strength of the business and its lending infrastructure, which serves millions of people across Africa.
Showing how building a profitable and reliable business model gives investors deep confidence to increase their financial stake, lead investment partners praised the company’s work in expanding financial access.
Expressing confidence in the company’s future growth path, Bas Hochstenbach, Managing Partner at E4E Africa, stated that “Kuunda is an exceptional company, building a very healthy and fast growing business while offering much needed products at fair prices to African small businesses and consumers”.
Kuunda currently provides loan technology across 5 African countries, with plans to launch in seven additional markets.
By connecting traditional commercial banks and mobile wallet providers with smart credit technology, Kuunda allows millions of small traders and everyday mobile users to get instant loans, proving that African financial technology platforms can build stable, profitable, and scalable businesses.
