Dangote Refinery extends its historic public share sale by 10 days to allow more everyday buyers across Africa to purchase shares.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially extended its public share sale deadline by an additional 10 days. The official deadline extension announcement was confirmed on October 12, 2026, shifting the closing date beyond the original October 13 schedule to give everyday citizens and investment groups across African nations more time to buy company shares.
Under the approved public offer extension, everyday retail buyers, small business owners, and large institutional investors across Nigeria and neighboring African countries can continue submitting applications to buy refinery shares at a set price of ₦525 per share.
The extra ten days allow interested buyers extra time to open stock trading accounts, complete mandatory identity verification checks, and resolve bank network delays experienced during the initial rush.
Owned by billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote and located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos, the massive petroleum processing plant is seeking to raise $2.1 billion through this public stock sale to expand its daily fuel production.
Extending the share buying window is very important for everyday citizens, local market traders, and small business owners who want to own a piece of Africa’s largest oil refinery.
In the past, major company share sales were often completed quickly by super-wealthy individuals and big banks, leaving small salary earners and everyday workers behind.
Giving ordinary people extra time to register and complete bank transfers ensures that regular working families can invest their savings, own real corporate assets, and earn future dividends as the refinery supplies petrol and diesel across the continent.
Explaining why giving everyday people extra time to join the company’s financial growth remains a top priority for company management, executive leadership expressed enthusiasm for welcoming new buyers.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, David Bird, said, “We welcome the SEC’s approval of the extension, which will give more investors across Africa the opportunity to participate in the Offer.”
Reiterating that the core vision behind selling company shares publicly is to share future business wealth with millions of African citizens, company leadership highlighted their long term goal.
David Bird added that “from the outset, our ambition has been to enable as many people as possible to participate in the IPO and share in DPRP’s future growth”.
The refinery’s public share offer has already drawn massive interest across regional stock markets. Currently refining fuel at its full capacity of 650 thousand barrels per day, the company plans to use the new expansion capital to eventually double production to 1.4 million barrels per day.
With the new 10 day extension active, thousands of new African investors are preparing their accounts to purchase shares in one of the continent’s biggest industrial enterprises.
