Orange Egypt and Huawei have successfully deployed the world’s first Cross-Band Carrier Aggregation Integrated Antenna (CCIC) Microwave Technology in Egypt.
Telecommunications operator Orange Egypt in collaboration with global technology provider Huawei has successfully deployed the world’s first Co-Channel Interference Cancellation (CCIC) microwave technology across its commercial network in Egypt.
Achieved under the supervision and guidance of the Egyptian National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), the milestone deployment introduces a breakthrough in wireless signal processing. By integrating Huawei’s specialized CCIC algorithms and interference-cancellation hardware into Orange Egypt’s backhaul architecture the network overcomes severe radio frequency shortages and dramatically increasing data transmission capacity without requiring additional spectrum licenses.
The primary innovation behind CCIC microwave technology lies in its ability to eliminate signal interference when multiple data streams run across identical radio frequencies.
Traditionally, operating multiple high-capacity wireless links on the same frequency channel causes heavy interference, degrading signal quality and limiting network speed. Huawei’s CCIC solution addresses this limitation by actively canceling cross-channel interference, boosting microwave spectrum efficiency by up to 400 percent. The technology allows up to four high-capacity links to operate simultaneously on the exact same frequency channel without performance degradation, effectively quadrupling network throughput while conserving scarce national spectrum resources.

The commercial deployment reinforces the long-standing infrastructure partnership between Orange Egypt and Huawei which encompasses 5G network expansion, Massive MIMO antenna systems and cloud infrastructure.
Ayman Amiri, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Orange Egypt, highlighted that deploying the CCIC solution directly resolves spectrum bottlenecks and supports the company’s mission to deliver a future-proof digital network. Representatives from Huawei noted that the successful integration demonstrates how advanced interference management can unlock unprecedented network performance, providing the high-speed wireless backhaul necessary to expand 5G coverage, support mobile data growth and advance Egypt’s national digital transformation goals.
