Airtel Money has released its financial results for the first half of the year, reporting a robust 34% revenue increase to reach $830 million.

Airtel Money has announced its financial results for the half year ending September 30, 2026, marking its first reporting period since becoming a publicly listed company.

The digital financial services platform posted strong growth across its operations, driven by rising customer adoption, higher transaction values, and an expanding merchant network.

During the six-month period, consumer demand for digital financial services accelerated across the company’s operating markets. Total customer numbers rose by 18.7% to reach 56.7 million, bringing mobile money penetration among Airtel’s telecom subscribers to 42.9%. Alongside this, the dedicated app customer base surged by 64.3% to 4.1 million users, reflecting increased digital engagement. Transaction scale also saw strong gains, with annualized total processed value (TPV) reaching $270 billion in the second quarter, representing significant year-on-year growth. Furthermore, network expansion widened significantly as active agents increased by 26.3% to 2.4 million and active merchants grew by 85.5% to exceed 587,000.

The company reported a 34% increase in reported revenue to $830 million, alongside a 21.6% rise in profit after tax to $228 million. Operating free cash flow also climbed 27.1% to $378 million, highlighting the platform’s strong cash-generating capabilities.

Reflecting on the milestone performance, Ian Basil Ferrao the Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Money noted:

“Our oversubscribed London listing was a landmark achievement for Airtel Money and a vote of confidence in our business model and strategy. Our first half was in line with our expectations: revenue grew 34% in reported currency to USD 830m, 25% in constant currency and our customer base reached 56.7 million. Annualised TPV reached USD 270bn in the second quarter, supported by customer base growth, higher transaction value per customer and the expansion of our distribution and merchant networks.”

Ferrao also explain the immense potential for future expansion by saying:

“Our fastest growth is coming from payments and transfers and financial services, which are higher-quality revenue streams. The business is capital-light and highly cash generative with operating free cash flow of USD 378m in the half. And with around 75 million Airtel telco subscribers not yet using Airtel Money, our runway for growth remains significant.”

Looking ahead, Airtel Money has maintained its financial outlook for the 2027 financial year, anticipating continued revenue growth and strong operational margins as it connects more people and businesses to the formal financial system.
