Zambia has officially launched a comprehensive digital services and cybersecurity awareness campaign in the North-Western Province.

Zambia’s SMART Zambia Institute, operating through its North-Western Provincial ICT Unit has officially launched a regional awareness campaign focused on digital public services and computer cybersecurity in Mushindamo District.

The initiative is designed to educate both public service workers and local citizens on how to safely navigate online tools, utilize the Government Service Bus (GSB) and take full advantage of digital platforms.

During a community sensitization meeting in Mushindamo, SMART Zambia Provincial ICT Officer Mathew Mufunte emphasized that the government is aggressively digitizing public services to drastically improve efficiency, eliminate red tape and promote greater transparency, accountability and good governance.

A core focus of the outreach is encouraging citizens and civil servants to register for a ZamPortal account which serves as the gateway to accessing the National Digital Identity and Authentication Service securely. By shifting paper-based processes into streamlined digital workflows, the government aims to make public services faster and more accessible for everyone.

Alongside teaching citizens how to use online portals, the campaign places heavy emphasis on digital safety.

Mufunte urged public service workers to strictly adhere to established protocols when handling government policies, maintain high standards of professionalism, and fiercely protect sensitive information. He stressed that access to confidential data must be strictly limited to authorized personnel to prevent security breaches.

Following its successful rollout in Mushindamo, SMART Zambia announced that the digital services and cybersecurity awareness campaign will be expanded and rolled out across all remaining districts in the North-Western Province.
