Airtel Nigeria and UNICEF Strengthen Partnership to Expand Digital Education Across Schools

tech news

Airtel Nigeria has renewed and deepened its strategic partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to significantly expand digital education and internet connectivity access for underserved schools across the country.

Airtel Nigeria and UNICEF have reinforced their ongoing collaborative partnership, focusing on expanding free digital learning and educational technology initiatives across the country to reach one million Nigerian students.

The strategic push centers on dismantling cost barriers and improving digital access for young learners, particularly across underserved and remote communities.

A core focus of the partnership involves expanding zero-rated access to major educational platforms, allowing students and educators to access online learning resources without incurring standard mobile data charges.

Supported platforms like the Nigeria Learning Passport, Inspire and Ignite provide critical curriculum-aligned content and skill-building tools directly to students. By removing internet data costs as an obstacle, the initiative ensures that more young people can study freely and continuously online.

Beyond student tools, the collaboration places heavy emphasis on building teacher capacity and fostering safer digital environments for children as classrooms increasingly integrate modern technologies.

By combining telecommunications infrastructure with national educational priorities, the partnership aims to narrow the digital divide, equip students with essential future-ready skills and foster more inclusive learning opportunities nationwide.
