Telecommunications company Airtel Nigeria launched an Open Network platform allowing customers to report coverage gaps and view cell towers.
Airtel Nigeria has officially launched a new interactive portal called Open Network to allow mobile subscribers across the country to directly report poor phone network coverage, call drops, and slow internet speeds.
The official corporate service launch took place on October 30, 2026, during an industry event aimed at fixing customer network complaints through direct public feedback.
Under this brand-new service framework, mobile phone users can log onto an interactive online platform to view detailed coverage maps showing where two-gigabyte, three-gigabyte, four-gigabyte, and five-gigabyte network signals reach across different neighborhoods.
The portal allows subscribers to see exact locations of existing cell phone towers, check where new network upgrades are planned, and pin exact locations on the map to flag network gaps or poor signal areas.
Whenever a customer reports a network problem, the platform generates a special service request tracking number so the user can follow up until technical engineers fix the issue in their area.
Additionally, property owners and community members can use the platform to suggest suitable land spaces for Airtel to erect new phone mast towers to improve weak local signals.
Fixing poor phone signal, frequent call drops, and slow internet connections is very important for everyday market traders, online business operators, students, and working families across Nigeria.
In many towns and bustling markets, poor phone reception makes it very difficult for ordinary citizens to complete daily money transfers, speak clearly with family members, or run online shops smoothly.
When major telecommunications companies open up their coverage maps and listen directly to customer complaints, technical teams can quickly fix bad network areas and install new cell towers where people need them most.
Improving network coverage ensures that every community gains access to fast, cheap, and reliable communication services.
Explaining why giving mobile subscribers open access to network coverage data creates a transparent relationship between the company and its users, corporate leadership shared key insights during the launch event.
Highlighting the company’s commitment to listening to everyday phone users and solving network problems quickly, Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Dinesh Balsingh, stated that “we believe customers should have a more informed relationship with the services that they use; they should be able to raise concerns, and those concerns should reach the people equipped to investigate the problem”.
Emphasizing how direct customer complaints will guide future investments in building new cell towers and spreading high-speed internet across developing towns, company leaders noted that public feedback remains vital.
Demonstrating how local customer input helps improve service quality across the country, corporate management added that “the initiative allows the operator to join the thoughts of customer experiences with its own technical operations”.
Subscribers are eager to test the interactive portal. As Airtel Nigeria expands its high-speed internet masts across the country, millions of mobile users look forward to enjoying clearer voice calls, faster data speeds, and better network connections in their communities.
